Taking individual courses from the program

It is, given certain bureaucratic, practical and logistical preconditions, quite possible to take the courses in the program even if you're not admitted to the actual M.Sc. program itself. There are several possibilities, depending on what your status with respect to our university is.

Hanken students

If you are a student at Hanken, you can take the courses just as you would take any other advanced level courses. There are some practical restrictions, and your taking the courses is subject to the approval of the faculty. Basically, we expect that you are a reasonably senior student, typically third-year or more, and that you have the time available to devote to these quite heavy courses. If you speak Swedish, please see the page with more details in Swedish. Note that 2156 AFIS is a prerequisite for 2158 SFIS.

Exchange students

For incoming exchange students to Hanken, the exact same rules apply as for local in-house students. You need, of course, to go through the bureaucratical arrangements for selecting courses to take at Hanken in advance, and you need to be aware that these courses are quite time-consuming!

Other Finnish students - The JOO agreement

If you are a student at one of the universities in the Finland that participate in the so called JOO-agreement you can use this agreement to take courses at Hanken - for instance these courses. The same caveats about heavy-duty credit units apply. We still reserve the right to reject applications. There is a slightly different set of bureaucratics, and you typically need to apply well in advance before the term starts.

Please note that these courses are not practical to take unless you can physically attend most of the lectures and workshops, so you really have to be located in the Helsinki region.
