Updates
- Please restart your VNC's: this will solve the connection problem. First, connect to the server with Secure Shell Client. After you have logged on, type vnc stop and then, as a separate command vnc start into the shell. This will give you a new desktop number. You can also refer to the first DWDM workshop for help. The reason for this inconvenience is that the servers have been relocated and restarted on Monday.
- Compiere settings have changed. See the ERP course home page for more instructions.
- An evening playing billiards: 11.12.2007, all current students and Alumni
welcome. For more information e-mail Ogan.
- PAFIS party on April 3rd, 2007 - all current students and Alumni welcome.
For more information e-mail Ogan Yigitbasioglu (ogan at pafis.shh.fi).
- If you log on with an SSH terminal client, run vnc start, get a desktop number, but then it does not work when trying to connect with the vnc viewer... you need to first give the command vnc
stop and then the command vnc start at the SSH terminal command line!
- The pafis server died on Sunday, the 11th of May, 2003. We do not
know why exactly, yet, but it was a hardware failure; the current
hypothesis is that one of the two central processing units kicked it.
The pafis file systems have been moved to another server computer that
we had standing by. It's actually a faster machine (dual 2GHz Xeon) but
it's got a little bit less RAM. Everything should work as before -
you'll need to SSH in and fire up new vnc desktops, but otherwise
everything should appear like it was Sunday noon. We regret the
inconvenience and hope no more processors will die...
- We had technical problems Thursday, September 12th. For reasons
unknown the video card in the pafis server caught fire, emitted a lot
of stinky smoke, and melted down. Things are up and running now, but
unfortunately you all need to use Teraterm/SSH to log in and create new
vnc desktops - they were lost when the server went down. We regret the
inconvenience and are ventilating the smoke.
